This floral silk tie in shades of cream and ivory and green with orange fruits was a creation of the Victorian Designer, poet and activist William Morris (1834-1896)
Specimen of 'Fruit' (or 'Pomegranate') was originally a wallpaper design by Morris of fruit tree branches bearing oranges, lemons and pomegranates on a pale ground and was block-printed in distemper colors on paper. The design was one of 23 from a pattern book created by Morris & Co. first issued c.1866.
