This notecard of a drawing by Giambattista Tiepolo (1696-1770) demonstrates his skillful sketching techniques. An uplifting image to add to your collection!
The dynamic upper sketch of this drawing does not correspond to figures in the oil sketch or in the final painting by Giambattista, but was perhaps an early idea for the group of angels by the Virgin Mary. Here depicted, one of two sketches, they were likely once from a single sheet and relate to the music-making angels in the final painting.
