Emily Brontë (1818–1848) was an English writer best known for her powerful and haunting novel Wuthering Heights. Raised on the windswept Yorkshire moors with her literary siblings, she developed a vivid imagination and a deep connection to the wild landscape that later shaped her fiction. Published in 1847 under the pen name Ellis Bell, Wuthering Heights was her only novel. Its dark romance, complex characters, and unconventional structure shocked many early readers, but it is now considered one of the greatest works of English literature. Brontë died just a year after its publication at the age of 30, leaving behind a small but influential body of poetry and prose.
