Belle da Costa Green (1879-1950), librarian and first director of the Morgan Library, often stamped a stylized "Belle" on stationery she used for personal correspondence. The "Belle" stamp appears on her letters as late as 1930. She always used green ink to make these impressions on her writing paper.
