In the 1890s publishers reissued Jane Austen’s novels with dozens of illustrations. Among the most enduringly popular are those by Chris Hammond, an English artist who used a gender-neutral form of her first name professionally. These pen-and-ink drawings demonstrate how Hammond treated with care not only major scenes and characters but also those only briefly mentioned, including servants. This postcard set features six drawings from the Morgan's collection.
